Data Engineer (Contract)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support enterprise-scale data platform initiatives within a modern cloud analytics environment. This contractor will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data architectures that power analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases.
This role is ideal for hands-on engineers who enjoy working across the full data lifecycle—from ingestion and transformation to delivery and optimization—while collaborating with analytics and data science teams.
What You’ll Do
- Build and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines using Databricks and cloud-native orchestration tools
- Design and manage datasets using Delta Lake / lakehouse architectures
- Ingest and transform data for delivery to cloud data warehouses and relational platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure SQL, Synapse)
- Write and maintain high-quality, production-ready SQL and Python code
- Partner with analytics and data science teams to support dashboards and ML initiatives
- Monitor and improve data pipeline performance, reliability, and data quality
- Implement data governance best practices including documentation, lineage, and quality controls
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and technical design discussions
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering
- Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and PySpark
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and cloud-based data platforms
- Experience with Delta Lake, lakehouse, or medallion architecture concepts
- Working knowledge of Snowflake, Azure SQL, and/or Synapse Analytics
- Experience building scalable, cloud-based data pipelines
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices for data workflows
- Exposure to healthcare or transaction-based data (e.g., ANSI X12 eligibility or claims)
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fully remote environment
