Senior Operations Manager

Job Summary:
The Senior Operations Manager – Manufacturing is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality, maintenance, safety, and supply chain coordination. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes while maintaining high standards for product quality and regulatory compliance. A critical focus is developing frontline leadership, strengthening bench strength, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability across the facility.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, workforce planning, and plant performance
  • Drive operational excellence across production lines, focusing on throughput, yield, downtime reduction, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and manufacturing systems
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, scrap rates, first-pass yield, on-time delivery, and labor efficiency
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and finance to ensure seamless production flow
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
  • Oversee plant budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation, including labor, materials, and capital expenditures
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), environmental standards, and quality systems (e.g., ISO)
  • Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices and reducing incident rates
  • Manage supplier and vendor relationships related to production materials, equipment, and services
  • Lead capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process automation initiatives
  • Support and drive plant-level strategic initiatives and operational transformations

 Leadership Development & Talent Management:

  • Develop frontline supervisors and production managers to build strong leadership capability on the shop floor
  • Coach leaders in performance management, problem-solving, and effective decision-making in a manufacturing setting
  • Build and maintain succession plans for critical plant roles, ensuring leadership continuity
  • Partner with HR to deliver training in safety, technical skills, Lean methodologies, and leadership development
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and employee engagement at all levels of the organization
  • Lead daily management systems such as tiered meetings, Gemba walks, and visual management practices
  • Foster an environment of open communication, teamwork, and operational discipline

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (preferred, not required)
  • 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations or plant leadership roles
  • Proven track record of improving production performance, reducing costs, and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
