Position Summary
The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, testing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated packaging machinery and robotic systems. This role requires a strong combination of mechanical, electrical, and software capabilities to support standalone equipment and fully integrated production lines at both company facilities and customer sites. The technician also provides installation support, commissioning, training, and technical service to ensure optimal system performance.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, Assembly & Setup
- Read and interpret CAD drawings, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine installation and assembly methods
- Install, assemble, and configure automated packaging machines, robotic systems, and integrated production lines
- Perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and robotic setup, including programming and configuration where required
- Install mechanical and electronic components using hand tools, soldering equipment, and welding tools
- Configure system parameters, including robot safety settings and production line safety systems
Equipment Operation, Testing & Maintenance
- Operate standalone packaging machines and fully automated production lines
- Test electromechanical systems using diagnostic tools and measurement instruments
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and robotic system issues
- Perform preventive maintenance and system calibration, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ensure equipment operates at optimal performance and meets quality standards
Robotics & Automation Support
- Configure, wire, and program robotic systems
- Work with industrial robotics platforms including ABB and Fanuc
- Troubleshoot robotic and automated line performance issues
- Maintain robot safety systems and operational parameters
PLC & Software Integration
- Work with Siemens and Rockwell PLC systems
- Support automation system integration and troubleshooting
- Assist in resolving software-related issues across automation platforms
Documentation & Reporting
- Analyze and document test results and service findings
- Maintain accurate service records, installation reports, and technical documentation
Training & Customer Support
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and service visits
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and customers
Travel & Field Service
- Travel internationally to equipment manufacturer facilities in Italy for training and project support
- Travel throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and occasionally South America for installation and service work
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Solid understanding of electrical theory and electronic circuits
- Experience with robotic systems such as ABB and Fanuc
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens and Rockwell
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, wiring, and installation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing technical environments and field conditions

Experience Requirements
- Experience as an Electro-Mechanical Technician, Automation Technician, Robotics Technician, or similar role in packaging or automated manufacturing environments
- Experience with robotic automation, PLC systems, and packaging equipment preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical background required
- Willingness to be trained and developed on various packaging and automation technologies
