Summary
Set up and operate high-speed processing equipment to ensure efficient operation and consistent production of high-quality products. This role involves monitoring multiple machines, maintaining performance standards, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet and support Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service.
- Follow all safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
- Set up, start, adjust, test, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and shut down equipment according to production schedules and product specifications.
- Operate and monitor computer-controlled machinery or robotic systems managing one or more machine functions.
- Oversee the production process from raw materials through finished goods, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Adjust equipment to maximize uptime, production rates, and yield.
- Monitor machinery for mechanical issues through observation and sound.
- Troubleshoot equipment and material issues; repair or replace defective components as needed.
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, scales, and scanners.
- Implement processes to reduce changeover time and minimize downtime.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (e.g., lubrication, greasing, filling lube lines).
- Maintain accurate production logs and reports.
- Report maintenance needs promptly to the Maintenance Department.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Level II
External Candidates:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating manufacturing or process control equipment, or equivalent technical/apprenticeship training.
All Candidates:
- Experience with plant production software required, SAP preferred.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to convert decimals and fractions.
- Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of machine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Ability to follow and evaluate processes and procedures.
- Basic English proficiency for safety, training, and communication purposes.
- Powered industrial truck experience preferred.
- Experience in paper converting, plastics/chemical processing, or packaging industries preferred.
Level III
External Candidates:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating manufacturing or process control equipment, or equivalent training.
